Getting to Know You - Rachel

Hello, I'm Rachel and I joined the board of Trustees in January 2023.

I believe in the value of improved patient care and recognised that The Primrose Foundation aided in supporting not only local breast care services but the clinical staff too. I therefore felt it was a great cause to be involved with.

As a Trustee I am part of a group of individuals who are all involved in managing the funds and assets set aside, to benefit the breast care services delivered at University Hospitals Plymouth and all those affected with breast disease, including cancer, across West Devon & East Cornwall.

I mostly enjoy working with a group of people who have a common goal, which is to improve the lives and experiences of all that come through our local breast services. Seeing the benefit our work has on improving patient care and experience first-hand is a great feeling and it’s a privilege to be part of such a great team.

My day job is as a medical negligence solicitor at Wolferstans, in Plymouth. I also sit on the Committee of Plymouth Junior Lawyers Division.

An interesting fact about me is that I play several instruments and wanted to join the Royal Marine Band when I was younger. I love going to the beach and doing surf photography. I have a great interest in travelling and love to visit new places abroad when possible.

I have hidden disabilities myself and understand how patient experience can impact the process of treatment and the processing of a new diagnosis. This is partly why I am focused on improving experience where appropriate to do so.
