Getting to Know You - Shelley

Hello, I’m Shelley Coleman and I have been a trustee of The Primrose Foundation for nearly 6 years now.

I joined the charity after being heavily involved in a fundraising event back in 2018 where nine local breast cancer thrivers dared to bare and raised a whopping £10,000 for Primrose.

They have since gone on to raise a further £23,000 for The Primrose Foundation and are set to take part in our talent ball this October.  I am currently teaching and choreographing a whole new dance routine for the Dare 2 ladies and can't wait to see them along with all our other acts perform at our Primrose Has Talent charity ball on the 21st October.

My role as a Trustee has changed a few times, I have been involved in marketing, organising events as well as decorating and designing the quiet room at The Primrose Breast Care Centre in Derriford Hospital.

Currently, I am working on the charity’s Support Us To Support You campaign that raises the importance of breast screening, in addition to this I helped to create The Big Bra Drop which encourages people to donate their preloved good quality bras. Both campaigns have been a huge success and I am proud to be part of both projects which not only help spread awareness but raise essential funds for the charity too.

My favourite role is organising events.

I am the chair and founder of a local charity called Plymouth Ladies Charity Club, which gives grants to children and young adults who live in the PL postcode.

I am a part-time model and an exercise teacher, currently teaching spin, yoga, and Barre classes. I am married to Martin and have 2 adult sons and 2 grandchildren.

My main interests are fitness and health, currently, I am working on educating people about nutrition and the microbiome … gut health.

I walk, run, sea swim and read. 10 years ago, I set myself a target of raising 1 million for charity … I am around 2/3 into my challenge.
