The Mud and Sweat Mud Run

Following the success of the last 6 years, the Mud and Sweat Mud Run Event 2019, will again be taking place at The River Dart Country Park, Ashburton. This year will be even bigger and better!

In addition to the 5km and 10km races for both Solo Runners and Teams, we will also be running our popular Kids Race for under 16's of approximately 2.5km - the Kids Super Hero Race will be supporting our nominated charity CAP UK. New for this year, will also be the option for kids to enter as a team.

All races will be exciting and tough off road running races - expect some small natural and man-made obstacles (scramble nets, water, tunnels, pirate ships) and plenty of mud!

There are huge discounts on offer for getting a team together, and also the earlier you enter, the cheaper it is!

Already have a place?

GREAT! We’d love you to raise funds for us. As part of #TeamPrimroseUK you can be guaranteed a lot of support with your fundraising plans, a running vest, the chance to wear a giant boob and of course, a lot of boob love. But the event will have to be done by you, sorry.

The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit

This is a truly corinthian event designed to raise money for charities nominated by the individual yachts which enter.   The charities supported must “benefit the human condition” and have a Registered Charity Number.

Provided a yacht is equipped to sail a 26 mile offshore course from Plymouth Sound and back, and its entry falls within the criteria stated elsewhere on this web site, be it large or small, racing or cruising (or neither), old or new, entry is welcomed!   There is an entry fee (detailed elsewhere on this website) and each yacht entering is required to raise sponsorship for its nominated charity.

The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit is currently sponsored entirely by a private charitable trust and was first sailed in 2002.   It is currently the third largest fund raising event in the South-west, having to date raised funds approaching three quarters of a million pounds, and over £70,000 on average for the past 5 years, benefiting many charities.

There is prize money to be acquired throughout the fleet in three categories, Individual, 3-Boat Team event and the 341 Smeaton Trophy Challenge.   ALL yachts are automatically entered in the Individual event and then can become part of a 3 Boat team if they all sail for the same charity.   If it is a single boat from a business with at least three members of the staff from the entering business sailing for one charity it can enter the 341 Smeaton Trophy Challenge, but not both Team and Challenge events.  Each year there is a substantial sum of prize money to be distributed throughout the fleet, ALL of which goes to the charities nominated.

Afterwards the crews of all boats are invited back to the Supper and Prize Giving in the Eddystone Hall which is generously provided by the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth.   There is a Keepsake for every owner/skipper who comes and prizes (non financial) to take home and keep for the leading boats in a number of different categories.

The Pursuit currently has support from a number of ‘Friends’ and several Plymouth businesses. Allspars Ltd., Mayflower Marina and Plymouth Yacht Haven also provide trophies. Plymouth Yacht Haven is now supporting a second trophy : The All Female Crew Trophy 2019.   The organisers are very grateful for the support of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and the ‘Friends’.

Sponsorship is raised by the yachts and it is for them to see that their sponsorship reaches their charity.   The organisers reserve the right on a random basis to seek proof of authenticity and source of sponsorship.   Alternatively the Just Giving Website can be used.

All Prize Money won by the yachts is sent direct to the nominated charities by the Eddystone Pursuit’s Treasurer after the event.

EAI_BOCHM_230417_PR_00017.jpg

England’s south coast plays host to one of the most celebrated running events in the entire UK. The Plymouth Half Marathon takes runners along a path that features great coastal views, the National Trust grounds of Saltram Park, and the Plymouth Hoe. This marathon is popular among runners all over the world. It invites you to take part in learning more about Plymouth, while getting great exercise through a truly great experience. Currently scheduled for April 19th, this race is ideal for people who enjoy running for a cause, or for those who enjoy the personal challenge.

One of the best aspects of the Plymouth Half Marathon is the great views. The course takes you along a course that provides incredible views for people who love nature. The coastal views are a major draw, and there are no cars present during the race. This allows you to take in your surroundings without worry. Most runners love the challenge of the race. Rolling hills along the countryside require a certain degree of fitness level in order to complete the race. However, it is perfect for runners of various skill levels. Each runner who participates is made to feel as though they achieved a great accomplishment as well.

Perhaps one of the best aspects of the run, is that participants get to take home a nice goody bag. Registration automatically enables runners to take advantage of retail discounts as well. Coupons are available for gear which is related to running and having fun. Those who participate also have a chance to win a great medal for their efforts. This provides a symbol to show everyone that you completed the race. One of the more important parts of the race, is that the organisers do what it tales to make you feel comfortable. This means that they provide safe and private changing facilities. Additionally, they provide a bag drop area so that you do not have to worry about your personal belongings during the race.

Different runners have various motivations for taking part in the marathon. However, many of them run for a cause. Running a marathon is a great way to bring attention to an important cause. It allows you to raise awareness for the cure of different diseases like cancer. Others make political statements with their run, and they raise campaign funds through sponsorships. When you run for a cause, it makes the experience much more fulfilling in the process. It enables you to feel good about your accomplishment on a whole new level.

Children, or teens, take part in the race. This is a great way to get them to enjoy fitness, and to set a great example for their friends. Many kids stay inside playing computer or video games, and they do not get the right amount of fitness in their lives. The Plymouth Half Marathon provides a great atmosphere for young people to show their running skills, while having plenty of fun at the same time.
