Race For Life Plymouth 2024

  • Hoe Promenade Plymouth, PL1 2PA, England United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Did you know that Race for Life was set up over 29 years ago, originally a ‘women only’ event it is now hugely popular for people of all ages to participate in.

We salute the event organisers and love to encourage as many local people as possible to get involved in this event as not only can you support Cancer Research UK but The Primrose Foundation. In fact, you can support any charity you wish as Cancer Research UK encourages all participants to get involved in whatever way they can and if they wish to support additional charities along the way that’s great too so why not do your bit and support us too.

The fabulous Plymouth 5k route starts and finishes on our wonderfully picturesque Hoe promenade. The route takes you along some fantastic views of our beautiful seafront and provides a great atmosphere every step of the way.

The course is all on paved paths and closed roads around the Plymouth Hoe and pathways in and around Hoe Gardens, therefore please do expect some inclines and some slightly uneven surfaces.

To get involved or to find out more simply click here https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/find-an-event/the-hoe-5k-2024-06-09-1100

Once you are all signed up and ready to go pop on over to our fundraising page and check out how best to go that extra mile and fundraise for us.

Here you will find some downloadable fundraising material, from fundraising packs and sponsorship forms to posters and leaflets, plus much more, we have it all.

We also have Primrose running vests or T-shirts which we can provide for free if you raise £150 or more in fundraising for us or if you would like to purchase a top/vest please contact us info@primrosefoundation.org

Plymouth 5K 2024

  • Plymouth Hoe Plymouth, England, PL1 2PJ United Kingdom (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The countdown has begun to one of our favourite local annual events, the Plymouth 5k. We love this event for many reasons but ultimately because it’s centred around bringing our community together and encouraging everyone to get involved.

What’s also great about this event is that the hard-working behind-the-scenes event crew at Redrok Events work incredibly hard at making this event an opportunity for local charities like The Primrose Foundation to benefit by offering all runners the opportunity to support their chosen charity.

You can enter as a solo participant or like many of our fantastic fundraisers have done so in the past, as a group of family, friends, or work colleagues, it’s all about getting involved and potentially making a difference.

Everyone enters with their own story, whether that’s to achieve a personal best or to make a difference to a charity close to their hearts, it’s an event that has no doubt touched most of us in some way, whether you have got involved yourself or sponsored someone that has. It’s an event that makes us proud to live in the Southwest.

If you would like to enter this year for your first time or for the thirty-third time we would love for you to consider supporting us and perhaps that support could help give you some extra motivation. To sign up please click here https://runplymouth.co.uk/plymouth-5k/

To find out more about how you can support us please head on over to our fundraising page here https://www.primrosefoundation.org/downloads

Good luck from everyone here at The Primrose Foundation and thank you for choosing to support us.

London Marathon 2021

London Marathon 2021

We are elated to confirm that we have been successful in securing a charity place in the 2021 London Marathon. Next year marks the 25th anniversary of The Primrose Foundation and the 41st anniversary of the London Marathon therefore we were thrilled to receive the news that once again we have secured a place.

Amazingly, over 400,000 people apply for just 17,500 places in the London Marathon every single year, so places are hard to come by.  But if you take the place The Primrose Foundation have secured – you can beat all those queues and land yourself with a guaranteed spot in the 2021 Marathon!

If you would like to be considered for this place and represent The Primrose Foundation, your local breast care charity in the London Marathon 2021, please email us by the 14th August on info@primrosefoundation.org.

In this email, please include a bit about yourself so we can get to know you. We’d love to know the following:

  • Why you would like to run the London Marathon

  • Why you would like to represent The Primrose Foundation.

  • A brief outline of your fundraising ideas – you’ll need to commit to raising a minimum of £1,500 (but we’d love £2,500 as every penny goes straight back into the Primrose Centre and it is our 25th anniversary after all!).

  • Any other information you feel we should know!

We will of course provide fundraising support and advice every step of the way, as well as a branded running vest.

We know many of you will want to take this place so please get in touch asap! We will let you know if you have been successful by Friday 11th September. We only wish we could take each and every one of you but sadly we can only take one lucky person.

If you have already submitted a personal application for the 2021 London Marathon and wish to run on behalf of the foundation independently, please get in touch as we will of course support you too and send you your  own running vest FREE of charge.

We can’t wait to hear from you!

Best wishes

Team Primrose

Virtual London Marathon

LONDON MARATHON.jpg

We have some exciting news to share with you…

Did you miss out on an in-person place for this year’s London Marathon on the 3rd October?

Well, don’t be disappointed as did you know that you can now apply for a virtual charity place instead.

The Primrose Foundation have joined forces with The London Marathon and are now offering runners an opportunity to run in aid of The Primrose Foundation on the 3rd October but instead of traveling to London you choose your location – our only request is that you complete the same distance as those running the in-person event.

The Primrose Foundation has secured three places for this unique opportunity and is inviting applicants to get in touch and request their place however you need to be quick as we only have three spaces available which will be offered on a first-come basis.

In securing your place you will have access to your very own fundraising tool kits and free fundraising material to help you reach your fundraising target.

You will also have access to the FREE VM training hub full of training tips and advice to help you along the way.

To get involved and secure your place please email info@primrosefoundation.org

What better way to show your support this breast cancer awareness month than running the virtual London Marathon in aid of your local breast care charity.

The Pretty Muddy kids Plymouth takes place at Central Park, Plymouth- kids will be taken through the woodland areas aswell as the open parkland sections- The event has some extra challenges thrown in with some fun obstacles to do together. All of our Pretty Muddy Kids events are approximately 5km. Obstacle layout will vary from venue to venue and adults accompanying children will run alongside the course but will not be allowed to take part on the obstacles.

The Pretty Muddy Plymouth route follows pathways around Central Park, with woodland and open parkland sections. The route is hilly in places and is a mixture of grass and pathways within the park.

There are lots of opportunities for supporters to watch the fun at each obstacle and the whole event has a fantastic atmosphere.

Push It For Primrose

Push It For Primrose

‘Push it for Primrose’ is a cheeky little campaign designed to help push you that little further. We are asking local athletes or sporting enthusiasts to go that extra mile and push themselves just that little bit more in aid of The Primrose Foundation.  Or maybe you’re just starting out with exercise and could do with some motivation.

Whatever your starting point, we would love to see you turn that hobby into a challenge for charity.

‘Push it for Primrose’ is a shout out to all those running, walking, swimming, cycling, sailing and more to push themselves that little bit further; to set a new target not only for yourselves but for us too.

Set that new target and ask those around you to support you in your challenge. We are only asking for a gentle push - perhaps if you usually run 8 miles then run a further 2. If you tend to cycle 12 miles, why not make that 15 miles instead.

Plan a new route and keep it interesting - perhaps that route could be in the shape of a ‘P’ for Primrose or how about considering the number 25 as it is our 25th Anniversary.  Mix it up and keep it fun.

You could set up a JustGiving, Virgin Money or Facebook fundraising page which could then be shared with those who wish to cheer you on. Fundraising really couldn’t be simpler.

For more tips on how to maximise your fundraiser or to download our FREE fundraising material please click below.

Good luck on reaching that target.
